Comforting and wholesome is the middle name of this oatmeal recipe. This can be enjoyed most days of the week. This one can be enjoyed with a warm cup of green or peppermint tea.
Adding some flax seeds for the source of omega 3 fats and Bananas just make it creamier and more flavourful. The peanut butter makes it richer.Instead of cutting up fruits to nibble on for a whole day destroying all its freshness, just top the oatmeal up with fruits and have it fresh!
Why Rolled oats and not steel cut oats?
So while they differ in size, shape, mouthfeel, and rate at which they digest, when comparing steel cut oats vs. rolled oats, their nutritional value ends up being the same. However, rolled oats are completely different “extra thick” rolled oats, and you’ve got an extremely versatile whole grain with a multitude of uses.
Everything from breakfast cereal to granola bars, muffins to smoothies to cookies, rolled oats are definitely on trend for recipe substitutions and weeknight overnight oats prep. Rolled oats’ creamy soft texture after being cooked makes them equally as suitable for oatmeal as they are for baking.
1 cup (90g) oats
2 ripe bananas, mashed
1 tbsp. peanut butter
Favourite nuts and seeds, to garnish
Seasonal fruit, to garnish
Add oats and water to a pan and bring it to a boil. I prefer rolled oats. They should cook in 3- 4 minutes.
Add in one mashed up banana into each bowl and mix well to combine. Set aside for 10 minutes for the oats to soften.
Drizzle the oats with peanut butter and serve with the nuts and seeds and chopped fruit.
garnishes (nuts, seeds, fruit) are not included in the nutrition information.
