Top 7 Tips to Boost your Immunity
Easy to follow actionable tips.
The weather is changing and the viral is in the air. Let’s discuss some easy to follow tips to help with better immunity.
Eating and living healthy are essential steps to maintaining a healthy immune system…
However, there are a few extra tips and steps that you can adopt to make sure that you boost your immunity even further.
Here, we talk about seven practical tips that can be included and implemented into your daily routine.
1) Get enough quality sleep:
Good sleep is essential for your immunity. While you're sleeping, without even realizing it, there are a lot of critical activities going on in your body. Important infection-fighting molecules, for example, are produced while you sleep.
Aim for quality over quantity when it comes to sleep. So avoid binge watching Netflix before hitting the bed and instead indulge in mindfulness techniques like the Tapping Meditation.
Even a night of disrupted sleep is enough to boost pre- diabetes markers by upto 33%!
2) Exercise regularly:
Get acquainted with any moderate fitness regime to keep your body moving. It does not have to involve any prolonged intense exercises but even two sessions of 15 minutes of movement per day is enough.
Get a pair of jump ropes, if nothing else, and aim for 500 skips per day. Build unto 2000 per day as you get stronger. Maybe a short yin- yoga session before you go to bed or some stretches as soon as you wake up.
3) Eat 5 varieties of vegetables everyday:
Vegetables are high in nutrients and antioxidants, which can help you fight diseases. They are also rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals good for your gut microbiome, further boosting immunity.
Diversity is key here, aim for variety.
4) Indulge in some ‘stress free’ time:
Long term stress leads to chronically elevated levels of the steroid hormone cortisol. High amounts of cortisol may prevent the immune system from protecting the body from viruses and bacteria.
Therefore, it is crucial to regulate your stress levels using a variety of practical approaches such as meditation, journaling, walking outside, acquiring some indoor plants and gardening, or engaging in any other activity or hobby, even if just for a short period.
5) Use detox herbs and spices
According to research, spices like peppers, clove, thyme, cumin, and Ayurvedic herbs like tulsi, garlic, ginger, turmeric, ashwagandha, methi and others, have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, and antiviral properties.
I suggest making your own blend of herbal tea with a variety of seasonal spices and replacing the same to your chai/ coffee.
